JW "oh really what happened did you get hurt?"
That's an odd question. Were they trying to find out if you were "stumbled"? If so, I've never heard it phrased that way. What do they think you would say? "Sister Rude hurt my feelings and now I can't bring myself to go into another Kingdom Hall again".

I WAS THINKING WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS...........
by juni ini was first contacted by the jws in 1968 when i was pg w/our first son.
i bought the little blue book "the truth that leads to everlasting life" for 25 cents.
found it interesting, but put it away because i was busy after our son's birth and i didn't think my husband would want to get into religious material as we had left the methodist church because they were always crying for $.. jump ahead to 1970. husband was home which was unusual because he normally worked saturdays.

Even though I was very unhappy in the Borg, I still kept pushing myself. But the first thing that really started me thinking was when there were several Watchtower articles almost every week that would mention Rutherford's imprisonment with the seven other men and how this fulfilled Bible prophecy. I believe it was in the 80's, but I can't remember. I'm sure I had heard this before, but maybe because I had gotten older and not a kid anymore, all of a sudden it made me raise my eyebrows . I just did a little research and here is what I found to jog my memory:
November 1, 1993, Watchtower (pages 11-12) applies the 1260 days*, 1290 days, and 1335 days of Daniel 12:7, 11-12 to the date Rutherford was sentenced to prison, the date he spoke at the convention in Ohio, and the date a book he wrote was released.
The organization has been fairly consistent in identifying the 1260 days of Revelation 11:3 as the same period mentioned at Daniel 12:7, but it has flip-flopped several times on the dates when that period began and ended. Still, it persists in perpetuating Judge Rutherford's egocentric interpretation of the prophecies as applying to himself and his close associates.
So I remember that after each Watchtower study, I would mention to my JW sister, why are they harping on this week, after week? Are they building up to something? They are linking scriptures to Rutherford's imprisonment and release! How could these "men" think that they are fullfilling Bible prophecy? It's one thing to be teaching the Bible. It's another thing to think you are have been prophesied about in the Hebrew Scriptures! This really turned on my thinking cap to start doubting Brooklyn. If I had the internet during those weeks, I probably would have started doing some searches.
So I just found a page in the Daniel book, which I never read, that gives a little more detail: http://www.cftf.com/daniel/daniel/D296-1260days.htm
This is a good topic. I hadn't thought about this in a long time. Thanks!

What's your take on "stumbling"...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inthe phrase "cause for stumbling" often left me bewildered.
tell you what to do counsel you and impose their own opinions on you.
maybe i did something in the past that "stumbled" someone, but aren't we all able to make our own decisions when it comes to conduct and choices ... at least we should be, especially if it isn't regarding something inherently wrong.

I would hate it when someone would say something like, "I don't want to stumble you". I would immediately tell them they couldn't. I also hated it when the rude brothers and sisters in the congo did and said whatever they wanted, but you couldn't tell them off because it might "stumble" them. If they were hurting others, "they were accountable for it". So you'd just have to watch humbler brothers and sisters get trampled by them. "Keep peace in the congregation", they'd always say.

I did for the first 10 years, (10 years old to 20 years old). I really thought I was in the best place to worship God. By the time I turned 20, I felt like a failure and struggled with this for 28 more years.

What do you think the JWs will be doing on the 4th of July?
by Blindbutnowisee intomorrow i plan on sleeping in late and then go to a cookout.
during a day where it seems that most people will be in the yards cooking on the grill, i wonder if more jws will go out in service; and if offered a hotdog will they accept it?.

Same as you doing barbeque and having friends over, they just won't call it 4th of July but "opportunity to get together" same as for Christmas or any other holiday
And on Thanksgiving too (because the turkeys are on sale)
